About the mission
The Space_Ready 2 LUNA analog mission involved interdisciplinary engineering and scientific activities aimed at supporting future human space exploration. The mission focused on human performance monitoring, biological systems in isolated environments, and the characterization of planetary surface materials.
A major achievement was the development of a custom sensor system and software platform capable of monitoring motion, acceleration, velocity, and biometric parameters such as heart rate in real time. Cognitive performance was also assessed through Rubik’s Cube-based testing, used to evaluate problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and stress-related changes.
The mission included biological and engineering experiments related to plant growth in isolated and space-relevant conditions. A self-contained system was developed to monitor plant health using environmental sensors and image analysis, while additional studies examined the effects of microgravity analog conditions on plant development.
Geotechnical experiments were also performed on regolith simulant to study its mechanical and physical properties, including compaction, friction, adhesion, abrasion, and compression resistance. These results are relevant for future lunar and planetary exploration, especially for infrastructure construction, rover mobility, and astronaut equipment protection.
Overall, Space_Ready 2 LUNA served as an integrated research platform for advancing technologies and scientific knowledge needed for long-duration human missions beyond Earth.
